This is part of your intake.
We'll discuss your symptom, your health, previous treatments and what you want to be able to do again. Then there's targeted physical examination. You will be given an explanation of the findings and an appropriate follow-up step.
ultrasound when it adds something
Ultrasound can help assess structures such as superficial tendons, muscles and bursae. We only perform it when it can answer a specific clinical question and the tissue can be visualised adequately. We interpret the images alongside your history and physical examination. Not every symptom requires ultrasound.
Why is ultrasound limited for back pain?
In adults, bone obstructs the view of deeper structures. Routine musculoskeletal ultrasound is therefore unsuitable for assessing intervertebral discs, a herniated disc or the spinal canal. Some superficial muscles and soft tissues around the back can be seen, but this does not automatically explain back pain. We start with your history and physical examination and discuss referral for further assessment if necessary. An MRI is not routinely needed.
What are you paying?
You pay the consultation fee. If ultrasound is indicated and feasible during the consultation, there is no additional charge. If ultrasound is not useful or possible, the consultation fee still applies. We discuss the fee before you confirm the appointment.
You choose the next step
You don't have to take a treatment course after the intake. Any shockwave, EMTT or other follow-up treatment is not included in the intake offer. We discuss the possibilities and costs in advance.
Free ultrasound with a paid consultation, only when clinically indicated and technically feasible. Ultrasound is not a routine part of every assessment. An appointment request is not a confirmed appointment; we arrange it together with you.
